There’s no doubt everyone likes to feel comfortable and prefers, where possible, not to take risks, especially where business is concerned. However, we also understand that many of you are brave enough to venture out into the unfamiliar from time to time in search of new opportunities. So give us a moment to tempt you out of your cosy, selling comfort zone into a whole new zone of exciting growth potential.

Recently, WebInterpret carried out research to find out how much additional revenue is generated by sellers who divide their time, money and energy listing on both Amazon and eBay as opposed to one single distribution channel.  During the study, sales data was gathered from 250 online retailers who use the WebInterpret solution to list their inventory in categories such as: fashion, car parts, mobile phones on both eBay and Amazon. ….and the conclusion was staggering.  Even we hadn’t imagined how much more revenue these sellers were enjoying thanks to their multi-channel approach.

Let’s look at the numbers!

Our research, based on data gathered from 250 online retailers who were selling inventory in categories such as fashion, car parts and cell phones (WebInterpret customers) showed that:  Revenue generated through selling on Amazon was 25 Prozent higher than that on eBay. Conclusion: Total revenue generated through selling on both Amazon and eBay was 57 percent higher than on eBay alone.

What does this mean to each single online retailer?

So, in one month, 250 online retailers, just like you, managed to generate 1,967,295 Euro by selling on both eBay and Amazon.  So, on average, each individual seller generated around 7869 Euro during a one month period.  That equates to an average of 94,430 Euro each year through selling on both eBay and Amazon marketplaces!  The same sellers would have only generated 40,622 Euro, that’s 57% less, if they had decided to sell solely on eBay. And just one mention here, research made on the same sellers in next month showed even better results…

Ok, ok, so enough of the maths.  Let’s get to the bottom line.

Listing your products on both eBay and Amazon as opposed to limiting yourself to only one distribution channel can increase your revenue by up to 57 percent.  If you’re wondering how best go about listing on both channels, let us know because this is what we do. At Webinterpret we love to help sellers discover new ways to increase their online revenue.
